Anna Goncharova's artistic practice is a reflection on the theme of a world without man. With the help of the abstract language of architecture, she tries to look at the world with a detached gaze, where recognizable, figurative images that tie the viewer to a specific historical and temporal context are erased.
Anna's works are portals to worlds, in which it is difficult for the viewers to consider its role and scale. Architecture here, losing its direct function of shelter, becomes only a shell for sensations and memories, a designation of the boundaries between the inner and outer worlds, different stages of life.
Deserted spaces are metaphors for the human path, the ecstasy of life, loneliness, and the fear of death. Works present a journey through a «postapocalyptic» world, a trance into a dream, leaving only connections and transitions between energy fields liminal spaces. The elements that mark these transitions are the boundary walls, movement trajectories.
The theme of escapism is expressed here through dynamic compositions that lead the viewer's gaze beyond the plane of the painting, giving the feeling of being able to leave the room to free oneself from being tied to a particular place.
